Viburnum 'Allegheny' is a strong, hardy shrub with an upright habit. It produces an abundance of white, fragrant flowers in early spring, followed by clusters of dark blue-black berries in late summer and fall. The foliage is a glossy green, turning to a deep purple-red in fall. Prune as needed immediately after flowering because flower buds form in summer for the following year. Best fruit set occurs with cross pollination from parents or clones of the same hybrid. This is a great shrub for adding color to your garden and providing food for birds.
