Sometimes known as West Virginia firs, Canaan Firs are beautiful evergreen trees that are closely related to the Balsam Fir. The dense foliage is dark green in color with a lovely silvery bluish shade on the underside. This soft and fragrant fir is an excellent choice to use as a privacy screen, windbreak, erosion control, landscape ornamental or accent specimen. Canaan Firs are attractive, medium-sized conifer can reach 40-55 feet in height and have a spread of 20-25 feet. For optimum growth, the Canaan Fir prefers a cooler climate, ample moisture and rich, acidic, well-drained soils. They can tolerate drought once established.
